Fengjian Water Country
    Fengjian Water Country is honored by another name of Shunde Zhou Village, which locates in Xingtan, Shunde. It is surrounded by river and water. Ancient style is still remained .It keeps a picture of river passing through small bridge and resident living along .The traditional resident built their houses along the river. The street is formed along the river and small boat passing.
    Fengjian Village was prosperous in both economy and culture in history. In West Han Dynasty, Fengjian residents had reached quite high agriculture civilization level. Since South Song Dynasty, Fengjian became a place to avoid war for the immigrants from Central China. Since middle stage of Qing Dynasty, Fengjian became prosperous gradually because of convenient water traffic and silk weaving industry .By the end of Qing Dynasty, it reached the best stage with ten thousand residents. There were 3 silks product markets and 300 weaving machines and 15,000 workers. The people named it Small Guangzhou.
    Prosperous economy brought prosperous culture. There were many Jinshi and Jvren fostered by this village. There was one family with 8 Certified Students and 3 Hanlin Academicians. There were many high rank officials and rich businessmen from Fengjian. There were many Fengjian people who went back to home village to build bridge and temple. Therefore there were 37 bridges, 33 workshops, 78 family temples and 32 temples. By now, part of them remained completely. Old existing bridge is a good example of Fengjian ancient culture. There are two famous bridges built in Song Dynasty donated by Mr. Li Xiou Shi, those home village is Fengjian. There are many ancient building remained, such as old trees and bridges, which contain much culture and can tell you many stories.
