The ancestral temple construction was initiated in the Song and Yuan dynasties and was prosperous in the Ming and Qing dynasties. In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, numerous ancestral halls can be found all over the county. Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family, located at the Nancun, Lecong, is the largest extant ancestral temple in Shunde. Covering an area of 4,000 square meters, the ancestral temple was established in the 21st Year of Guangxu, Qing Dynasty, and now it's a district-level protected historic site.
